Welcome back for our latest episode of Out the Road with Kiki. In this series, we follow pest consultant Kristian as he visits homes and businesses across Adelaide that are experiencing pest outbreaks. Today, we have pesky termites on the agenda!

The first client of the day has noticed some active termites in their doorframe, and they’ve even managed to dig out a hole in the wall. As they are small in size, the client mistakes them for nesting termite offspring, but when Kristian takes a look, it’s definitely fully grown active adult termites. He finds that they’re also active in the garage, and recommends treating the problem with a termite baiting system attached directly to the affected wall. As the house is semi-detached, Kristian offers both the client and his neighbour a quote for a combined baiting system package deal to ensure that they are both protected from termites in the long term.

The next client wants a quote for a Sentricon Always Active termite barrier system, which is Allstate’s preferred choice for comprehensive termite protection. While they already have a termite barrier system installed by a competitor, Kristian notes that the stations seem to be located further away from the house compared to Allstate’s preferred approach. This means positioning each station no more than 300mm away from the house, 3m apart to better protect the house. He leaves the client with 2 options: the first is to have the existing stations reactivated with Sentricon as they are, or to reinstall new stations following Allstate’s method.

Finally, it’s time for the last job of the day! The client bought their home about 3-4 months ago, and is looking to safeguard it from termites. They had a termite assessment completed as part of a pre-purchase inspection, which did not show any problems, and Kristian confirms today that they are still termite-free. He measures up and leaves the client a quote for a preventative termite baiting system. And that’s a wrap for another week!

Happy new year! We’re kicking off 2024 with our first episode of Out on the Road with Kiki. In this series, we follow pest consultant Kristian as he visits home and businesses across Adelaide to assess pest outbreaks. Today is all about pesky birds!

The first job of the day is in Malvern, where an NBN technician who was doing some work managed to take some photos of pest birds in our client’s roof space. While the client did hear some scratching in the roof, he hadn’t seen any birds himself, so he wasn’t sure of the cause. Kristian climbs up for a look and he discovers that there is a hole in the timber barge board that is allowing rainbow lorikeets inside. He recommends proofing off the entry point and leaves the client with a quote

Then, it’s off to tackle a pigeon problem at a townhouse. It seems like this is a common issue affecting many properties along the entire street, and the client is currently having some repairs done to their roof as a result. They’ve also got some solar panels which haven’t been proofed off. The property has previously had bird prevention treatment from another pest control company, including having the roof cleaned 3 times since moving in 18 months ago. Due to the height of the building, Kristian has decided to bring another pest technician with him today to make a proper assessment of the situation. After climbing up for a look, it’s pretty clear that there is a major pigeon fouling issue. Besides needing yet another cleanup, Kristian leaves the client with a quote to install proofing and bird spikes, as well as a trapping program to keep the pigeons away once and for all. And that’s it for the first week back!

Established in 1986, Allstate has since grown to become Adelaide’s largest independent pest control company. Welcome to our first episode of On the Road with Kiki for 2024! Join our pest technician Kristian on the field as he embarks on pest assessments and solutions for Adelaide homes and businesses.

The day kicks off in Goodwood, where Kris tackles a feathery challenge – a pigeon predicament in Salvos. The client is dealing with pesky pigeons causing a ruckus, particularly around the lunch area. Kris spots potential entry points and plans to block them off, possibly using mesh for added security. Due to the roof’s height, a follow-up with a second technician is on the agenda for a thorough assessment.

Taking a moment to soak in the beauty of South Australia at Windy Point, Kris shares the stunning view before moving on to the next mission.

The journey continues with a termite quote for a customer who recently purchased a home. Kris learns more about his situation and explores treatment options. He discusses the pros and cons of a liquid spray versus a baiting system, considering the customer’s preferences and future plans for a deck. The client receives two options, and Kris promises to email a detailed quote for their consideration.

Welcome back for another episode of On the Road with Kiki! Join our pest technician Kristian on the field as he embarks on pest assessments and solutions for Adelaide homes and businesses.

The journey begins in Kings Park, Goodwood, with a possum assessment. The client suspects rats in the roof, pointing to a previous possum assessment that missed the evident rodent issues in the back of the property and the roof area. Kristian crafts a detailed quotation to tackle the scratching noises and rodent evidence, providing a thorough solution for the client.

Kristian shifts gears into a bird assessment, addressing the cheeky pigeons causing a ruckus under solar panels. The client, residing in the home for nine years with solar panels installed for two, is facing a recent pigeon nesting challenge. The inspection ends with a quotation for solar proofing or a solar skirt, aiming to clean up the affected area.

Closing the day’s adventures is another possum assessment. This time, the client reports strange noises in the roof, suspecting possums. Given a history of possum problems, further inspection reveals rodent droppings. Kristian swiftly puts together a rodent baiting quote, and the client eagerly accepts to proceed. The job is booked, and another successful day for Kiki.

Happy Wednesday! Welcome back for our latest episode of On the Road with Kiki. Hosted by pest consultant Kristian, we follow him around Adelaide as he visits clients who are experiencing pest outbreaks.

With breeding season in full swing, it’s common to see more pest bird problems and our first client of the day is no exception. They’ve had multicoloured birds chewing through timber on the roof. Kristian climbs up for a look and sees that some lorikeets have managed to squeeze through the scribe filler, then chew through the timber to get inside the roof to nest. He leaves the client with a quote to proof off the entry points and remove any baby lorikeets inside the roof.

The next client is also having issues with pest birds, but this time it’s starlings that are the culprit. They’ve been able to get under the ridge caps to access the roof space. Kristian recommends proofing off every corner of the roof as the pesky starlings have managed to use all of them to get inside. He also suggests dusting off the roof void and relocating baby starlings.

Finally, the last client has just recently purchased a house and they’re interested in some options and advice for termite prevention. Kristian sees that there are some timber sleepers in the yard. He identifies signs of old termite activity, so he offers the client a quote for a full inspection as well as a termite protection system. And that’s it for another day!

Welcome back for another episode of On the Road with Kiki! In this series, we follow pest consultant Kristian as he assesses pest outbreaks in Adelaide homes and businesses.

The first job of the day is in St Peters, where the client believes that they have pesky possums in the roof. Another Allstate technician came out a few weeks ago and found some possum droppings and fur in the roof cavity. Kristian also spots multiple entry points, so he offers the client a quote to proof them off and install a one-way door to catch the possums.

The next client is after a termite assessment in the decking around the perimeter of their home. Kristian has a close look at the area of concern, and thinks that it’s actually wood rot, not termites, causing the damage. However, there is another spot where it looks like termites have established some mud tubes in the past. While it looks like previous termite activity, Kristian suggests a termite baiting system as a protective measure.

The last client of the day is having a bird issue. They seem to be getting inside the roof and nesting on the roof itself, but have thankfully left the solar panels alone for now. It looks like they’ve managed to pick at a roof tile to displace it to get inside. Kristian can also see that they’ve managed to chew through some boards and made nests between some pergola beams. He leaves the client with a quote to proof off the area, and that’s it for another day!
