Home / glossary / prothorax

Prothorax: The prothorax is the first segment of an insect’s thorax, or middle section. The prothorax bears the insect’s first pair of legs and is attached to the head. The prothorax is often protected by a hard exoskeleton and may also have spines or other structures for defense.
