Pronotum:The pronotum is a plate-like structure that forms the dorsal (upper) surface of the first segment of an insect’s body (the prothorax). It is usually hard and tough, serving to protect the delicate wings and legs beneath. In many cases, the pronotum is also used to store fat reserves.
