Home / glossary / conidium

Conidium: A conidium (also called an asexual chlamydospore or mitospore) is a type of asexual spore that is formed by certain fungi. Conidia are typically formed at the tips of hyphae, and are released when the hypha breaks off. Conidia can be used for dispersal, or for survival during unfavorable conditions.
