Welcome back for our latest episode of On the Road with Kiki, starring none other than our fabulous pest consultant, Kristian! In this series, Kristian takes us around to homes and businesses around Adelaide to inspect for pest outbreaks.

Kristian’s first client is in Campbelltown, and they’re wanting to know how to protect the home from termites. The client was interested in a liquid spray being applied under the pavers adjoining the house. Kristian also recommended a baiting system. He ends up sending them two quotes for them to consider over the weekend.

The next customer is an existing client in Morphette Vale, who is currently renovating his house. Since he’s pulled up all the concrete pavers and poured down a new path, Kristian recommends protecting it with Kordon. The client requests that the Kordon be installed 100mm above the damp course to cover the damp course and brick work, which shouldn’t be a problem. For the inside of the house, Kristian suggests a subfloor spray and internal drill. Kristian arranges to send one of the construction consultants over for a more detailed quote.

It’s a long drive next to Tatachilla, where a client has termites that have damaged a wall in the granny flat. Kristian suggests that urgent treatment is needed, and since the client is keen to go ahead straight away, he books them in to have a technician come around next week.

The last client of the day is an existing Allstate client who has just opened a new café. However, with a cockroach outbreak, they’re very much in need of a commercial pest management plan. This involves monthly visits to monitor for pests including cockroaches, spiders and rodents. The client seems quite happy with Kristian’s recommendations and quote, so they up on the spot.

Happy Friday! It’s time for another episode of On the Road with Kiki. In this series, we follow pest consultant Kristian as he visits homes and businesses around Adelaide to assess pest outbreaks. Today, it’s all about terrible termites causing chaos yet again.

Starting off in Blackwood, Kristian visits a property that has already had a termite treatment in the past. Unfortunately, an inspection of two tree stumps in the yard reveals active termites. With another pile of wood in the yard, Kristian believes that there is a high risk of active termites entering inside, so he recommends a liquid treatment around the edge of the house and installing a baiting system.

The next client has just recently purchased a home in Mount Barker and they are keen to safeguard it from termite damage. After inspecting the property, Kristian suggests getting a baiting system and regular termite inspections to make sure that their new home stays protected.

After a road trip to Teal Flat along the Murray River to get to his last client, Kristian straight away notices that there are termite mud tubes along the exposed wooden frame of the home downstairs. Luckily, he’s unable to find active termites. However, it’s always better to be cautious given that there are big trees and large amounts of moisture in the area. So, he leaves the client a quote for a termite baiting system.

Welcome back to another episode of On the Road with Kiki, featuring pest consultant Kristian. In this series, Kristian takes us around to Adelaide homes and businesses and gives a glimpse of how he tackles pest outbreaks.

Today, Kristian’s first client lives in Alberton, and they’re already an Allstate client. They recently built an extension and wanted to make sure that it was protected from pesky termites. While better access is needed to properly assess some bait stations, it’s clear that some stations are missing. Kristian gives them a quote for replacement bait stations to be on the safe side.

Then, it’s off to another property where there are termites in a tree stump. Kristian immediately notices mud tubes on the tree stump as well as the fence, so it’s very clear that there are termites nearby. In fact, the fence itself is leaning because of the termites damaging the timber. Kristian explains to the client that a spray treatment will kill the active termites, and a baiting system will kill the nest. He leaves them with two quotes to protect their house as well as the granny flat.

Next up, Kristian heads to the Adelaide Hills to catch up with pest technician Hossein. He knows pests inside and out through his studies in entomology in Iran, and ran his own pest control company there for 16 years. Providing excellent customer service comes naturally to Hossein, because he considers every situation from the client’s point of view when approaching his work. This is most definitely a quality that we value at Allstate!

For his final job of the day, it’s yet another home with active termites in a tree stump. Kristian measures up the property so that he can send a quote for a baiting system to the owner.

Thanks for joining us yet again for our latest episode of On the Road with Kiki. We shadow pest consultant Kristian, as he takes us to homes and businesses around Adelaide to assess pest problems.

Today, Kristian starts off the day in Port Adelaide to have a chat with termite technician Ryan Drennan about his work. While Ryan certainly finds his job interesting, he really enjoys being a part of the Allstate team because there is a close-knit family atmosphere where everyone is happy and strives to “kick tail and be proud of it”. His favourite company value is owning your mistakes, fixing them and moving on.

Then it’s off to look at active termites in a tree stump in the front yard of a home. While he completes a quick assessment of the home today, he still recommends a full inspection to make sure that all areas with active termites are detected. This inspection will cover the entire home, using specialised equipment including a moisture meter and borescope. He leaves the client with a quote for a baiting system and monthly to bimonthly reviews.

Next up, a client wants a quote for Allstate to takeover another company’s existing termite system at their home. Coincidentally, it turns out to be Sentricon, the same system that Allstate uses. Thankfully, while he doesn’t detect any active termites in the current baiting system, he still measures up and provides them with a takeover quote.

Kristian wraps up his Friday at his friend’s house, which has substantial evidence of termite activity, but strangely, no sign active termites. However, they can still be lurking nearby, so just to be safe, Kristian recommends a spray treatment be carried out, as well as installing a termite protection system.

Established in 1986, Allstate has grown to become an industry leader in preventing pest outbreaks and pest management. We are available 24/7 to service residential, commercial and industrial clients. Our team is fully equipped with modern equipment and innovative treatment options that are safe for children, pets and the environment. Improving pest control with a diverse workforce

Improving pest control with a diverse workforce

At Allstate, we’re continuously striving to meet the wide range of needs of our ever- expanding customer base. Luckily, as a multicultural business, we’re able to lean on our team for help. As our business continues to grow, we’ve made sure that our team representation reflects the diversity of the local Adelaide community.

“We are looking for a diverse range of people that can meet the needs of the market.” – Vasili Tsoutouras, General Manager Allstate Pest Control

Why we value diversity

With strong growth predicted in 2024, Vasili Tsoutouras, General Manager Allstate Pest Control, is looking forward to future workforce planning and finding good candidates for the Allstate Academy. He believes that the heart, or driving force of the business lies in creating a dynamic, multicultural team. He says, “We want people with diverse skillset[s] – those who can add extra talent and value – bring another way of thinking.”

So far, the business has benefited immensely from having diversity, and not just by enriching the culture at the Allstate office. Having team members from different backgrounds has paved the way for Allstate to break into segments of the market that were previously inaccessible due to language barriers. It has also given the team a better understanding of how to respect different cultural beliefs and customs when attending a customer’s home or business.

Bringing different experience and new knowledge

Let’s introduce some of Allstate’s newest team members who previously lived in other countries and offer a fresh perspective in their work.

grace

Grace’s story

Relocating from Myanmar the end of May 2022, Grace began working for Allstate on October 10 as a Customer Care representative.

After finishing a Masters qualification in Business, she put it to good use in running her own successful business in selling online products.

In Myanmar, Grace learned firsthand about the importance of communicating clearly with customers to ensure that they are satisfied and their needs have been met.

She has been expanding her knowledge learning about Allstate’s systems, which are very new to her, because she encountered less developed systems back in Myanmar.

She’s enjoying being part of a friendly team and great workplace culture and feeling very much supported as she settles into her role at Allstate.

Grace has adjusted well to her new life in Adelaide, appreciating the fresh air and quieter traffic and going to the beach.

The main challenge for Grace has been getting used to the Australian accent, local slang and let’s be frank, the swearing that inevitably comes with it!

hossein

Hossein’s story

Arriving from Iran five months ago, Hossein is one of our newest pest control technicians.

Although he has only been working at Allstate for three months, he is no stranger to the industry. Hossein has owned and operated his own pest control business for 16 years in Iran. He has extensive experience in pest control, particularly in preventing German and American cockroaches, moths and rodents.

With a deep knowledge of pest control stemming from a Masters qualification in Medical Entomology, Hossein has enjoyed using Allstate’s innovative technology and iPads to make his work more efficient.

One of Hossein’s biggest challenges so far is learning different ways to manage pests Australia, given that he has a relatively limited access to pesticides here compared to Iran.

He’s also enjoying shadowing some of his colleagues learning about termites and poisonous spiders, which are uncommon pests in Iran.

So far, Hossein is settling in well in Adelaide. He’s enjoying the warm weather, immersing himself in local culture, going to the beach and visiting the Botanic Gardens in his spare time.

At Allstate, we welcome every team member’s unique background and skills. We believe that much of our success comes from bringing out the best in every person, no matter where they come from. Since 1986, our team has helped customers all around metropolitan Adelaide resolve their pest outbreaks in residential, commercial and industrial settings. Contact us today to learn more about how we can help you.
