Home / glossary / secondary spread

Secondary spread:Secondary spread is the process by which a disease or other condition spreads from one person or group of people to another. It can occur through direct contact, such as when someone with a cold sneezes on someone else, or indirectly, such as when someone touches a contaminated surface and then touches their face. Secondary spread is a major concern in public health, as it can lead to outbreaks of diseases such as influenza and Ebola.
