Trophic Levels

Trophic levels: The different levels in a food chain or food web. The trophic level of an organism is determined by its position in the food chain or food web. The primary producers (plants) are at the first trophic level, while the top predators (animals that eat other animals) are at the highest trophic level.

true leaf

True leaf: A leaf that is fully developed and has all of its parts (veins, petiole, etc.). True leaves are usually found on mature plants.

tuber

Tuber: A thickened underground stem that stores food for the plant. Tubers can be annual (such as potatoes) or perennial (such as dahlias).

tuberization

Tuberization:Tuberization is the process of forming tubers, which are thickened, fleshy, underground stems that store nutrients. Tubers are typically formed in response to environmental conditions, such as drought or frost, and they allow plants to survive and even thrive in adverse conditions. Once formed, tubers can be used to propagate new plants.

Turbidity

Turbidity:Turbidity is the measure of how cloudy or murky water is. High turbidity levels can make water unsafe to drink and can also interfere with the proper functioning of sewage treatment plants and other water-based systems. Turbidity is often caused by runoff from agricultural fields, construction sites, and urban areas. It can also be a natural phenomenon, caused by algae blooms or sediment-laden rivers.
