Restricted Entry Interval (REI): The minimum number of hours that must elapse between the time a pesticide is applied and the time when people or animals can re-enter the treated area.
Restricted-Use Pesticide: A pesticide that can be used only by certified applicators or persons under their direct supervision, and only for those uses covered by the certification.
Rhizome: A horizontal, underground stem that often produces roots at its nodes and shoots at its tips. Many plants with rhizomes are considered invasive because they can spread rapidly and are difficult to control.
Rinsate: The solution that remains in a container after it has been rinsed out. Rinsates may contain traces of the pesticide that was originally in the container, so they should be disposed of properly.
