Meconium:Meconium is the earliest stool of a newborn. It is thick, sticky, and tar-like, and usually appears within the first 48 hours after birth. It is composed of materials ingested during the time the baby spends in the womb, including skin cells, hair, amniotic fluid, and mucus. Meconium is sterile and does not contain bacteria.
