Home / glossary / Federal Insecticide, Fungicide and Rodenticide Act

Federal Insecticide, Fungicide and Rodenticide Act:The Federal Insecticide, Fungicide and Rodenticide Act (FIFRA) is a United States federal law that regulates the use of pesticides. The law requires that all pesticides be registered with the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) before they can be sold or distributed. FIFRA also sets standards for how pesticides can be used, and requires that labels on pesticides include information about their potential hazards.
