Home / glossary / Disease Cycle

Disease Cycle:A disease cycle is the natural progression of a disease from its initial infection of a host to its eventual spread to other hosts. The cycle begins when a pathogen, such as a virus or bacteria, enters a new host. The pathogen then multiplies within the host, causing the host to become ill. The pathogen may then be transmitted to other hosts, where it begins the cycle anew.
