On the road with Kiki – Episode 12

It’s time for another episode of On the Road with Kiki. Today, we follow pest consultant Kristian as he goes about his work attending pest outbreak callouts at client homes and businesses.

First on Kristian’s agenda is a termite problem at a home with a wooden barrel converted into a planter in the backyard. On close inspection, Kristian notices it has evidence of previous termite activity, but nothing at the present. This means that the pesky termites are either active in the base of the barrel, or they’ve moved on elsewhere. He gives the client a quote for the technicians to come and treat the barrel and have a closer look at the base.

Kristian then visits a beautiful heritage listed property in Unley, where he finds clear signs of a heavy possum infestation in both buildings. Luckily, he manages to locate all the entry points, and leaves the client a quote for proofing and installation of one way doors.

Keen for some exercise, Kristian then hits the gym, but the workout must wait until after he’s had a look at a pest bird outbreak. He’s at Revive Fitness Centre in Plympton, where he finds that birds are entering the roof void through rainheads and box gutters. Kristian recommends proofing all the entry points to remove the birds.

An afternoon coffee stop at D.ose on Marion Road gives Kristian an energy boost before he arrives at his last client’s home for an assessment of an old termite baiting system.

Installed by a competitor, the termite system is unfortunately inadequate, with termites already eating away at the existing baiting stations. Kristian decides that additional baiting stations are much needed to ensure the house can be protected under warranty.
